Fleet Mechanic Offering $4,000 Bonus
Yakima, Washington
Yakima Waste has an immediate opening for an Experienced Diesel Mechanic to work on our fleet of Garbage Trucks in Yakima, Washington. Mechanics interested in secure, steady employment are encouraged to apply. Valid Class A or B CDL preferred or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment. Must have own tools. This position will be working Monday through Friday! Extremely Competitive wage in addition to Overtime and Bonuses. We are also offering a $4,000 Stay On Bonus!
PAY:
• Starting Wage is 27.00/hour with a Pay range of $27.00-37.00/HR. Working 50-55 hours a week. Every hour after 40 is paid overtime.
• $4,000 STAY ON BONUS
• This position is eligible for safety bonuses

We are also offering a $4,000 Stay On Bonus PLUS, $400 a week bonus, $70 a day periderm and $58.8 cents a mile (while away from home site)
TEAM members will be assigned a primary working location with day to day duties for their home shop. When the call goes out for help at a shop that needs performance assistance, the member will travel to that shop and be expected to perform all aspects of fleet maintenance including:
Responsibilities:
Repairs include but are not limited to, routine maintenance and repairing engines chassis and body components, hydraulic cylinders, brake systems, suspension systems, cooling systems, wheels and tires.
Inspects equipment and/or trucks for condition, operations, parts and fluid levels, differentials, final drives, pump drives, and hubs.
Knowledge of Hydraulics repair is required
Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.
Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
Reviews, completes or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
Performs maintenance related work as required.
Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
Performs required safety protocols while working on vehicles.
Ability to effectively communicate needed repairs or tasks.
Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds.
Work environment may be indoors in a shop, or outdoors to repair trucks on the road. Usually well-lighted and ventilated. Sometimes necessary to work in awkward or tight positions and to handle greasy or dirty tools. These factors require following basic safety precautions. Waste Connections will be offering a premium hourly wage for team members to travel up to 80 % of the time . In some cases, multiple weeks of travel will be necessary. In addition to the premium wage, Waste Connections will cover mileage, hotel, daily expenses, uniforms,
safety items and other incidentals related to your travel. This is an opportunity to appreciate the culture and diversity of other Waste Connections sites as well as the opportunity to take on a challenging leadership development role within the Maintenance team.
The ideal candidate will possess:
Minimum of 3+ years’ experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified above.
Valid Class A or B CDL with air brakes endorsement preferred , or the ability to obtain in the future required.
Must provide own personal tools. Welding/fabrication experience is a huge plus!
