Responsibilities

Heavy Duty Mechanic

Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada

Waste Connections of Canada has an immediate opening for a Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team in Kamloops, BC to work on a fleet of garbage trucks. Safety is key in our business and our mechanics play a crucial role in maintaining both personal and equipment safety. The Mechanic is responsible for maintaining WCC heavy trucks & heavy equipment in safe working order. The Heavy Duty Mechanic will work as part of a team to ensure that all equipment meet all government regulations and standards for safety, as well as WCC safety standards.

Location: 8165 Dallas Drive, Kamloops, BC

Pay rate:

  • $46.08 per hour
  • Excellent benefits

Shift timing:

  • Monday to Friday, afternoon shift

Requirements:

  • Red Seal License or Equivalent
  • CVI Ticket Required
  • Class 3 License Required
  • Hand Tools required
  • Mack Diagnostic software experience an Asset
  • Waste Industry Experience an Asset
  • Welding Experience an Asset
  • 3-4 years of experience as a Heavy Duty Mechanic
  • Must be able to pass all pre-employment tests

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and repair Garbage/Roll Off Trucks, support fleet and post collection off road equipment; in a safe, efficient, and courteous manner.
  • Ensure that all equipment and systems are operational by conducting inspections and completing related repairs to ensue vehicle uptime is maintained.
  • Maintain accurate work orders and parts charge outs using an electronic work order system.
  • Inventory control, ordering & receiving parts from vendors as required
  • Complete all safety checks and record information into data base.            
  • Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Maintain facility
  • Works as part of a team to accomplish common goals.
